Our Initiatives
Amongst the initiatives we have introduced are
  • a whole school approach to school meals provision
  • working parties to consider all aspects of food and catering
  • the development of menus using organic food and locally sourced ingredients
  • specialist menus, taking into account ethnic food and health requirements
  • a multicultural approach to food education
  • food tasting sessions for parents
  • cookery clubs and parent cookery classes
  • food assemblies, where pupils learn about food, thus reinforcing curriculum activities
  • ingredients corner, where children and parents gain hands-on experience of food
  • cashless payment system for collection of school dinner money
"We now have a generation of parents who don't cook; therefore, whatever we do with the children inside the school can only succeed if parents are also involved and re-educated about how to cook and make good food cheaply and easily.
"Our job, in the public sector, is not only to educate children; we also need to help the parents to be able to produce good, wholesome food when they get home."
Olukemi (Kemi) Atijosan, founding director of Eagle Solutions Services, commenting on the importance of informing parents.
